Woman gets three years for cocaine in Krazy Glue tube

Sharon Monplaisir, a New Amsterdam resident, has been sentenced to three years’ imprisonment for possession of two grammes of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, by Magistrate Adela Nagamootoo, on Thursday at that New Amsterdam Magistrate’s Court.

It was alleged that, on November 16, police were on mobile patrol along Saint John Street, New Amsterdam when a group of persons known to the police were spotted in a yard. The police entered the yard and, after searching several persons, Monplaisir was arrested and taken to the Central Police Station, where a female rank conducted a search on her person and discovered the cocaine concealed in a Krazy Glue tube stashed in her underwear.

On November 18 the mother of three pleaded guilty to the charge, saying: “I’m addicted to cocaine, and it was my supply. I smoke cocaine. I went to prison for a smoking utensil!’
