Former Guyana Defence Force (GDF) officer Alistair Woolford, who was discharged from the Army after shooting his friend nearly four years ago, was on Monday found guilty of manslaughter. A 12-member jury after three hours of deliberation found him guilty of discharging a loaded firearm at Devon Howell with intent to murder him on November 21, 2014 at D’Andrade Street, Kitty, Georgetown. The lifeless body of 46-year-old Gregory ‘Wayne’ Frank of Lot 686 Kuru Kururu, Soesdyke/Linden Highway, EBD was in the wee hours of Thursday morning discovered in his home. The body was discovered about 04:30h by his father lying face down in the “living room” of his one flat home. His head was reportedly swollen and the back door to the man’s house was found opened. In addition, the house was ransacked and several valuable items belonging to the man are missing. Police are investigating the matter.

Forty (40) Guyanese mariners are being trained in occupational safety for jobs in the offshore oil and gas industry by Edison Chouest Offshore in collaboration with El Dorado Offshore.
