The boat at the centre of the US$11.5M gold heist reportedly left Guyana in June. This is according to information from Commissioner of Police Leroy Brumell who spoke with reporters on Wednesday morning. “It came the 17th of June and left the 19th of June. The Guyana government is building three housing schemes to provide young professionals houses according to Housing Minister, Irfaan Ali. Former President of Guyana, Bharrat Jagdeo, on Tuesday received an honorary doctorate from the University of Central Lancashire, in recognition of his global leadership on climate change, low-carbon development and green growth. Natural Resources and Environment Minister Robert Persaud on Tuesday said teams are likely to be dispatched to some countries, to continue their investigation into the millions of dollars of stolen gold, suspected to have been smuggled from Guyana into Curaçao. Amid a spike in drug seizures at the Cheddi Jagan Airport and evidence that several other shipments leave the country undetected, the Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) on Tuesday announced that it was installing a new suitcase scanner at the country’s main terminal in the new year.
