12 basketball players shortlisted for IGG

From a group of 20, 12 players were shortlisted to represent Guyana in the basketball competition of this year’s Inter-Guiana Games in Parimaribo, Suriname from November 9-11. The successful trials were held last weekend at the National Gymnasium. Five returning players are in the team: Nikkoloi Smith, Dominic Vincente, Dominic Douglas, Linden Fraser and Dave Plass. Construction commences on GOA’s ‘Golden Project’

Construction on phase one of the Guyana Olympic Association (GOA) headquarters commenced at tract GOA Block XXX, Plantation Liliendaal, East Coast Demerara on Wednesday. A visit to the site revealed that foundation works were in progress. The complex is expected to cost the GOA about US $1M, of which phase one costs Gy$ 47,678,750.
