Opposition parties continue to push for Minister Rohee’s resignation

While the Home Affairs Minister Clement Rohee is satisfied with the Speaker’s ruling removing his gag, responses from the main opposition parties vary. Guyana gets US$40M from CDB for road works, poverty reduction

The government through the Finance Ministry has signed two contracts with the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) that will cater for road reconstruction and see communities benefitting from another cycle of the Basic Needs Trust Fund programme. The contractual agreements were signed on Monday in the boardroom of the Finance Ministry, with one contract worth in excess of US$6.1 million and the other to the tune of US$34.2 million. Solar panels positively impacting Santa Mission – villagers grateful to govt

Residents of Santa Mission are more than pleased with the recent installation of solar panels in their small, but close knit village. Guyana Times International recently visited the community, which is located across the Demerara River (around the Kumuni Creek) and spoke to the community’s chairperson, Martina Samuels, who highlighted some benefits which the solar panels brought to her village. Information centre opens at 1763 Monument site

The 1763 Information Centre was officially declared open by Culture, Youth and Sport Minister Dr Frank Anthony on Monday as part of observances of the 250th anniversary of the 1763 Berbice Slave Rebellion. New employment initiative to empower indigenous youths

Over 500 Amerindian youths are set to be benefit from a new employment initiative, which will also see them being given a stipend to assist in their respective village management and administration.
