The City has installed new muni-meters, presumably to make parking more convenient for New Yorkers. However, these new meters, which have now replaced 99% of the old ones, leave much to be desired. Many do not yield the full time paid for, and patrons often get shortchanged. Some do not get serviced regularly for paper, and cannot cough up the token receipts. Surinam Airways Station Manager Rudi Westerborg said there has been an unusually surprising increase in passenger volume during the January-March off-peak season. A Nigerian national was on Monday sentenced to 54 months imprisonment after he was found guilty of trafficking cocaine. The sentence was handed down by Magistrate Sueanna Lovell in Court Two of the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts. Former Magistrate K A Juman Yassin has repeated a call for government to establish a comprehensive drug rehabilitation programme in Guyana. The United States (U.S.) embassy has collaborated with the Bank of Baroda to launch its visa fee collection services which will now see non-immigrant visa applicants paying their application, fees at any of the bank’s branches across Guyana.
