The Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) members are optimistic about business this year, with 71 per cent anticipating an increase in revenues; however, the multimillion dollar companies are still plagued by a number of issues such as high taxation and an in efficient electricity system. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has projected a growth rate of 5.5 per cent this year for Guyana – several points higher than the forecasts of the government and the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC).
