A Guyana Sugar Corporation (GuySuCo) employee attached to the Uitvlugt Sugar Estate was in the wee hours of Sunday killed in a hit-and-run accident on the Cornelia Ida Public Road, West Coast Demerara. Some 173 students who placed in the country’s top one per cent at the 2013 National Grade Six Assessment (NGSA) examinations were presented with laptop computers on Wednesday by President Donald Ramotar. A total of 16,811 students wrote the examination in March of this year. In its quest to discover oil in Guyana, Spanish oil exploration giant Repsol has invested US$ 35 million to carry out a 2D and 3D seismic survey in the Kanuku Block. Seismic vessel, the Polarcus Asima, has been hired by the company to do the surveys.
