The ongoing expansion works on the Public Road along the East Coast of Demerara are progressing well, and it is expected that the four-lane upgrade will be completed by the end of 2018. Financial analysts are expressing concern over the announcement that the National Industrial and Commercial Investments Limited (NICIL) has secured a US$150 million (Gy$30 billion) bond to finance its administration of sugar estates.
