A Guyanese citizen, who was reportedly smuggling eight live birds past the U. S. Customs and Border Protection Officers (CBP) at the John F. Kennedy International Airport on June 5, was fined and had the birds seized. In reemphasising that countries will be downgraded for failing to have a risk-based approach, Attorney General Basil Williams said that financial and other agencies should be proactive as the country works towards strengthening existing Anti-Money Laundering (AML) mechanisms. Approval has been granted for the construction of a 0.95-megawatt dual hydro-system at Moco Moco and a 2.2 megawatt at Kumu in Region Nine (Upper Takutu/Upper Essequibo.
