Magnificent Monkey Mountain

Monkey Mountain is known for its pristine beauty and lush green, mountainous landscape. It is one of the villages in Region Eight in the vicinity of the magnificent Pakaraima Mountain that borders Guyana and Brazil. It can be accessed by road or air, and is also home to scenic interior savannah.

The village is inhabited by the Patamona and the Macushi tribes, and is equipped with a police outpost, schools and other modern-day facilities while rich in its indigenous culture. Residents live in traditional houses and still practice their invaluable Amerindian way of life. (Photos by Marco Basir)
