The government through the Finance Ministry has signed two contracts with the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) that will cater for road reconstruction and see communities benefitting from another cycle of the Basic Needs Trust Fund programme. Residents of Santa Mission are more than pleased with the recent installation of solar panels in their small, but close knit village. Guyana Times International recently visited the community, which is located across the Demerara River (around the Kumuni Creek) and spoke to the community’s chairperson, Martina Samuels, who highlighted some benefits which the solar panels brought to her village. The 1763 Information Centre was officially declared open by Culture, Youth and Sport Minister Dr Frank Anthony on Monday as part of observances of the 250th anniversary of the 1763 Berbice Slave Rebellion.
