The body of 22-year-old Michelle Benjamin, who drowned after the boat she was travelling in capsized was on Tuesday morning found by a search party in the Parika area. The boat reportedly overturned on Sunday, with nine other passengers on board at Aliki in the Essequibo River. EU plugs Gy$3.54B into ailing Guyana sugar industry
The European Union has said it has disbursed Gy$3.54 billion to Guyana as budget support in development assistance under the EU-funded multi-annual sugar programme for 2007-2010. The programme provides assistance to Guyana’s efforts to improve the competitiveness and viability of the sugar industry, the EU Delegation in Guyana said in a statement.
