A 17-year-old student of Chase’s Academy was on Monday evening stabbed to death by one of his friends following an altercation over a girl.
The dead Malteenoes Sports Club Second Division cricketer was identified as Anfernee Bowman of 77 Robb Street, Georgetown.
The incident occurred at the Patterson’s Lessons Place, South Ruimveldt Exit, Georgetown at about 18: 30h. According to information received, it was alleged the two young men had an a argument which led to Samuel Cornelius pulling out a knife and stabbing Bowman once to his heart, once to his right side abdomen, another time to his left side abdomen and finally gashing his face. The teenager was picked up by his colleagues; placed in a taxi and rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Cornelius on the other hand made good his escape after committing the act. Reports say he has since turned himself in.
When Guyana Times International visited the Georgetown Public Hospital, a huge crowd had built up comprising his schoolmates; members of the cricket club and his relatives. His mother was inconsolable.
